Great hair doesn’t just happen in the salon — it happens with consistency.
The difference between good hair and great hair often comes down to one thing: a schedule. Most people underestimate the power of regular appointments, but the truth is, hair looks its best when it’s maintained consistently.
Why Once-a-Year Appointments Don’t Work
I meet a lot of first-time haircut clients who tell me they only get their hair cut once a year. The problem? By the time they sit in my chair, their ends are dry, their hair tangles easily, and it doesn’t style the way they want it to.
Yes, skipping appointments might feel like a way to “save money,” but in reality, it costs more in the long run to fix neglected hair. Healthy, polished hair requires upkeep — and that’s where a schedule comes in.
My Hair Schedule System
Here’s how I guide my clients through a customized routine that works for their lifestyle and keeps their hair looking its absolute best:
✂️ Haircuts
Straight/Wavy Hair: Every 2–3 months. If your ends tangle, won’t hold style, or feel rough, it’s time.
Curly Hair: Every 6–8 weeks. Curls crave moisture, and the ends tend to dry faster, so consistency is key.
🌟 Color
Foil Highlights: Every 6 weeks to keep the color fresh, bright, and easy to maintain.
Balayage: Lower-maintenance, but not no-maintenance. Every 4 months keeps it polished without overdoing it.
💁 Extensions
Hand-Tied Extensions: Move-ups every 8 weeks minimum (10 weeks max). Keeps the wefts safe and your natural hair healthy.
Tape-In Extensions: Every 6–8 weeks for removal and reapplication.
💍 Special Event Clients
Weddings and milestones take extra planning. Sometimes we spend 6–12 months preparing the perfect color and cut for the big day — whether it’s growing out the length, building brightness, or keeping the look lived-in and effortless.
How I Keep Clients on Track
Most of my clients pre-book before they leave the salon — because once you see the results of staying consistent, you don’t want to go back to once-a-year hair.
And if someone forgets to pre-book? I give them reminders: “It’s September, let’s plan for October or November — at least before Thanksgiving. If not then, let’s make sure you’re in before Christmas.”
The goal isn’t just appointments on the calendar. It’s a system that guarantees your hair looks amazing year-round.
The Bottom Line
A hair schedule isn’t about rules — it’s about results. Whether it’s color, extensions, or cuts, consistency keeps your hair healthy, polished, and stress-free. Because when your hair is taken care of, everything else feels a little easier.
